Revelation 21:6 says, “He said to me: ‘It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life. He who overcomes will inherit all this, and I will be his God and he will be My son’” (NIV).
In order to explain the spring of the water of life, we must review the third day of the creation story (Genesis 1:9-13). On the third day, after dry land was made, God said “Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind, on the earth” (Genesis 1:11, ESV). The earth represents us in the creation story. When the state of our hearts is dried out and filled with soil good, we produce trees that bearing fruit with seed. The seed is God’s Word (Luke 8:11). We must plant God’s words in our flesh with the purpose of reviving our spirits.
The Word of Christ’s Truth is hidden in the written word. Further, the third day is essential for us to understand the Bible’s word. The third day refers to time when we are able to discern the Bible’s words as the Word of Truth. The discern Word is rightly the Water of Life, the Word of Christ’s Truth, and God’s mystery (Colossians 2:2). If we reach for the third day God surely will give the water of life without cost. These concepts are discussed in great detail in the book, “God’s Mystery That Is Christ.”
“Alpha” and “Beginning” followed by “Omega” and “End” represent the law and Truth, respectively. God’s law is the undiscerned written word. The Truth is the Word of Christ’s Truth that is hidden in the law. To discover the water of life, which is the mystery of Christ (Ephesians 3:4), we must search both the Old and New Testaments. Those who discover the hidden Truth in the Bible will receive Christ’s inheritance and will become sons of God.
The purpose of the written word is to make us sons of God. God says “it is done” when we finally stand before Him as His sons. For that reason the apostle Paul wrote, “in reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit, and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the Truth” (Ephesians 4:22–24, NIV). Therefore we need to be able to discern God’s words. When we attain the third day faith we are able to discern His Word (Genesis 1:9–13).
Our bodies are made up of an outer and inner being. The outer being is made up of our flesh, soul and conscience, where as the inner body; the inner being contains our spirit which is asleep before the Spirit of Truth wakens it with the discerned Word. We are spiritually dead until our spirit awakes. Unless our spirit is revived, the Bible tells us we are dead even though we are living and breathing (Revelation 3:1). “As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead” (James 2:26, NIV).
“He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water'” (John 7:38, NASB). “He who believes” refer to those who believes with their inner being after their spirit is revived. Depending on the Bible translation, “innermost being” is also described as “heart,” “belly,” “from within,” or “from deep within.” The transliteration of the original Greek word is koilia, which is also defined as “inner man.” “But whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life”(John 4:14, NIV).
Thirsty people seek water. In John 7:37, Jesus shouted to the crowds, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink.” Jesus is the Word. We must return to the Bible’s word to quench our thirst. When we reach for the third day, living water will flow from within our hearts, quenching our thirst. The spring of the water of life is hidden in the Bible’s written word. With this water, we must awaken our spirit and prepare our inner being for heaven. God will give us the water of life freely by His grace (Romans 3:24) to those who ask, seek, and knock (Matthew 7:7) for the Word of Christ’s Truth. Heaven is for those that forcibly seize the Word (Matthew 11:12). Most Bibles translate the force in Matthew 11:12 as violence, but the original Greek implies positive aggressiveness. Those who are enthusiastic and have determination, vigor, and endurance for the Truth are expressed as “violent men” who take the kingdom of heaven by force.
Heaven is within each one of us (Luke 17:20-21). However we need the discerned Word leads us to the heaven. Those who aggressively seek the Truth will encounter His Truth.
